Hi

Gloucestershire Constabulary has been running 2 day BikeSafe (in-house) since 1978. The course is specifically for those riders who have already passed their test and want to improve their standards/ability.

The first day is classroom based theory; covering thinking in a systematic manner, use of observation, gears and braking, bends and corners and over taking.

On the second day the group goes out on the 'open road' and puts the theory into practice, introducing the participants to the police style of riding.

The BikeSafe course is aimed at full licence holders, it is designed to enhance existing skills and will act as an introduction to advanced riding. The courses are supported by: Members of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Advanced riders are observers for the practical session.

If anyone is interested in doing this course have a look at this link http://www.bikesafe.co.uk/Police-Forces ... shire.aspx

Having been an observer on this course a few times now I cannot stress enough how important this is for Newbies and experienced bikers alike. We are all so vunerable out there, so any further training to keep us safer I think is a must, and at £25 including food what are you waiting for.

Regards Strongbow
