The insurance Company sent me a letter which I received on Saturday telling me that they wanted to arrange disposal of the XJR. I thought this strange as usually they will make an offer which you negotiate up as far as possible then they will offer you the salvage. Plan B was to buy the salvage back and build a special if they ddin't conclude the offer early.

I rang them today and asked why they wanted to dispose of the bike now and told them that I wanted to retain the right to buy it back only to be told that it was Company policy not to offer the salvage back to the owner! I was/am gobsmacked as I have never heard of this before. Anyway, they were obviously not going to move so I have had to say tara to the XJR.

James has a CBR600F in stock which I am going to purchase at the end of the week as a stop gap measure (Strongy has already designated it as the J4R track bike) It needs a bit of spannering to get it back on the road but hopefully it won't be too long before I get back on two wheels once more. It's not the prettiest thing you'll see but at least I won't be wasting time polishing it! BBQ matt black anyone?

Equity, I think! Got it through Carole Nash and they have taken the docs back so that when the claim is settled they will cancel the policy. It all seems a bit strange to me!

you want to check out there company policy rf.
it has to say that you cannot buy back the salvage in the small print,if it does not,you can have them for it.
they have to make this available to you so i would read it if i were you.

Really sorry to hear that RF. I am with Carole Nash and my insurers have still yet to come up with a write off figure :( :(

It could be another week or so they told me today. Really infuriating. The summer will be over by the time i get this sorted

John, I don't have the policy.... it had to be sent back with the keys. I'll just have to keep an eye on the copart website (that's their preferred salvage yard).

I feel for ya Debs! I know what you're going through. Thankfully, I'll have two wheels again this weekend but it needs some work before I can ride the thing. I can't believe there are no RHS riders footpegs for a CBR600F on eBay! What has the world come to?

Chin up.... at least you know roughly when you'll get an offer. I have no idea at all so can't plan anything. The frame builder got in touch today but I've had to let him down as I'm not going to easily get my hands back on my XJR.
