Well my bike has just been dropped off at MOTO-VATION for Tim to sort out my electrical problem.

Many thanks to Strongbow & Plasma for getting it there in Plasma's J4Breakdowns Van.

I will post up any info about it's problems (I know Boreny will be interested:) )

Les.

Latest Update: Tim phoned me a few minutes ago. It appears to be the generator not the rectifier that is the problem. There are 3 wires coming off it that are effectivley earthing the output. Thus draining all the power. The battery is ok. Tim is going to get me a replacement generator (Not a Honda one as the cost losts)

Looks like my bike could be back on the road after the bank holiday. :-D

Les.

Well it's now official. My Blackbird is back on the road. Rode it back from Moto-Vation, at Leckhampton. Tim Hyatt has done a great job, even cleaned the bike for me.

I would recommend him as he did a top notch job. His price for removing my alarm system. (I was getting so fed up with it not working properly) diagnosing the fault getting and fitting a new generator. Total cost= £202.32

Excellent value for money. Big thanks to Strongbow for reccommending him to me and also to Strongy and Plazma for helping me get the bike to him. Cheers for the lift today to go pick it up Strongy too.

So relieved to be back on two wheels again. Soooooo looking forward to the Bikesafe Trackday experience at Castle Combe tomorrow.

Les.

  Went to fire up the bike yesterday evening and guess what. It would not start :(

It had been working fine for the last couple of weekends.

Just ordered a book from Amazon on motorcycle electrics troubleshooting and repair.

Going to try to sort it out tonight.

Les. ( :( A very sad bunny indeed :( )

Tried wearing the snake thong, it' chaffs a little   didn't want to get my snake stuck in the chain  and the stripper mug is quite distracting   As for the book, I am reading up at the moment. Tools set will be used soon.

Took the bike round to Tim the bike doctor and he confirmed that all the problems with the generator/rectifier etc have had an effect on the battery and basically it's knackerd.

Going to get a replacement before the weekend. That should sort it all out. The book ordered today from Amazon "motorcycle electrics troubleshooting and repair" will not need to be used, however it will be available for reference. (Also can be loaned by mates on J4R too. Especially has we have 3 Blackbirds in the group. ;) )

Thanks for your help (and a bit of nagging) Strongbow.

Les.
