As a stop gap measure, I bought a 21 year old CBR600F H***a as a CAT C damaged, repairable from James at GBS. The trailer was put to good use by Strongy who helped me get it home (cheers mate!)
Since it's arrival here, I have managed to evaluate what's needed to make it roadworthy once more and list is gradually growing.
Some of you may not know but there is nothing I enjoy more than a good challenge and if it involves motorcycle dismantling (and hopefully rebuilding) then I love it.
So, this weekend I have mainly been out with the spanners removing dodgy parts (and there's a lot of them on this one) and trying to source useable spares.
First job was to remove the OSF foot peg hanger/rear brake master cylinder assembly to remove the remains of the broken footpeg in readiness for the new ones already ordered. Next job was to find out why the seat didn't lock and after much head scratching I'm no further forward. Somethings missing and I've no idea what!
I have, however, managed to source a couple of seat panel fairings off of eBay and a rear wheel. Parts are down Bristol way so not any great distance to travel - result!

Hopefully I'll get a reply from the seller soon as I missed the end of the auction (that's becoming a habit) letting me know if she's going to relist the items or let me buy them off of her away from eBay. I hope it's the latter just so that I don't have to wait another week for the bits.
The headlights don't work as the previous (?) owner may have got carried away with the wire cutters.... I have found loads of chopped wires going no where in particular

The headlights work OK as a passing light but no headlights.... bit strange that one. More of this particular challenge later, I'm sure!
Today was a late start but after stripping the switchgear and removing the air filter assembly I used half a can of 3 in 1 oil trying to free up the throttle return mechanism. Took me ages to strip the air filter down... those crossheads always chew up when you need it least. My favourite bike dis-assembly weapon, the impact driver, was used to it's maximum this afternoon! Anyway, it's better but not yet perfect. O'm hoping that the oil will soak through everything and I'll end up with a throttle that snaps shut and doesn't have to be would shut.
So, I've not really progressed too far but you can see where I've been.... every crappy jap nut and screw I have encountered has been replaced with A2 stainless allen cap bolts dripping with Copperslip

I'm off to the local nut and bolt shop tomorrow to order a shedful more..... I'm sure I'm going to need them!
