On Saturday, Rob swapped the rectifier for the spare one he had. Seems to be charging the battery better now. However as the battery was discharged it did not put enough power back for it to start from it. I now have the battery on charge, once it's fully charged again I will put it back on the bike.

In the mean time Rob let me ride his to Silverstone on Sunday were we had a chat with a guy from the Honda owners club who had been having a similar problem. It turns out that Honda have a 24 pin connector on the bike which is redundant once it has left the factory. It is used for pre delivery testing etc. Apparently it can get corroded and cause this problem. He told us how to sort this out and my mechanic (Strongy) might help me with this.

However I do have a brand new high performance battery on order, so if this does not sort it out, I guess it could be this plug.

I hope to ride to the Thunder Rally on Friday on my bike so at worst I might need a push  to get started.

I will let you know how things turn out.

Les.

Waiting for Dave from Groves to contact me as I am waiting for an Odyssey battery to come in for the Bird.
