Well finally feel awake enough to write up a short report of our European Road Trip. We all had a great time and made some good new friends, rode some wonderful roads and had some high speed fun (legally too) on the autobahns.

The days were full of riding and the evenings full drinking, eating, oh and playing darts! The German people were so very welcoming and helpful, there was nothing that they would not do to make our stay enjoyable.

Special mentions to John (Bavarian John), Monica, Kathi and Harry. John (Rob's brother)showed us around, introduced us to the locals at the Turm (local pub) and took us on a great ride out which took in a bit of the Czech Republic. He also looked after me when my bike played up AGAIN! It did not breakdown, but needed some Maintenance. I had to put a new chain and sprocket, plus a new rear Tyre too. They also checked out my electrics which were playing up again. It meant the bike was off the road for three days. So I miss the trip through the alps and the stelvio pass. :( However after hearing about the tight bends, oncoming traffic and shear drops I might have had the best of the deal. The Honda dealer sorted me out (cost about £550, so my wallet took another bashing :( )

Monica, Johns partner looked after us at the restaurant she works at and at her families restaurant. As well as looking after the girls at the flat with John. Kathi was a pillion on both Rob's and Nigel's bikes she looked great in her police leathers (they were green and had police on the back, which was taped over) She was great company and also a good laugh. Harry was a gentleman who we met at the Turm, he took two days off work to take the group through the alps, he knew the roads really well. Also good to meet Adam, Johns son.

With my bike being off the road John took me out in the car to the Eagles nest while the other rode there. I have posted all my photos on facebook, but I will post a selection in multimedia for those of you who don't have a facebook account. Link to facebook is: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=1 ... =754004315

We took two days to travel to Wasserburg and twos days to return home. On both journey's we found wonderful hotel's to stay in on the way.

Loads more to say, but my brain is still numb from all the riding and my body is still aching. I will post more when I can.

To end this post I would like to say a big thank you to Rob for organising this trip. To everyone who took part, many thanks for your company and support, I have not laughed so much for such a long time. You are all wonderful, can't wait for the next Road Trip! And last but not least, thanks to all our new friends in Germany. I hope you can come over here so we can show you our biking roads. Looking forward to the next time.

Les.

Rob reminded me about the menu at the Chinese Restaurant, their English was very poor. They had pok instead of pork and it took us all night to get some prawn crackers. lol. They brought us toasted bread the first time, then chips and finally the real deal. Proper prawn crackers which they gave us for free. Apparently they call them shrimp crackers.

I am sure more anecdotes will follow.

Ditto to what Les said and also….

Wow…wow…wow!!! :-D :-D :-D 8-)

Had a fantastic time with loads of rib-braking laughter, wonderful scenery, and some of the best riding in ages. 8-)

The autobahn was good fun. Speeding to 150 plus, then slowing for the others to speed passed me at the same. The grins we had when we got to talk about it said all that was needed. Yeeehhaaa!

The mountain passes were awesome. In fact Stelvio was so good, I had no choice but to leave the rest of the group go back down and up again! (It was the little voices in my head that told me to do it)  :? It took 24 mins down (my front break failed) and 20 mins back up, after being slowed by a camper van and a few cyclists. Was going to go again but needed to get to the hotel

We had a real difference in the weather. Max temp was 37 and lowest was 11. Fantastic sun and as Borney said, we had an ocean tipped over us not a bucket when it rained on our way back from Italy.

Lots of photos and lots of wonderful memories. :-D :-D

Thanks to all that came and especially thanks to Rob and John for arranging everything. Same time next year! ;)

Ps Broke my personal best for endurance…I had to leave the others and come back on my own. Did it in a day, well 20 hours and 836 miles. A few stops because I was absolutely knackered and an unplanned sleep at Oxford Services…in the Disabled loos!!!
