Like many people, I got into Motorcycling to save money. I was spending between £40-£60 per week commuting 32 miles to/from work.
I sold the car for £3250, paid for my CBT and Direct Access and bought a new 125 (GZ125 Suzuki Marauder). That got me saving immediately.
Got the Marauder in June 2008, passed my test in August 2008. Due to financial constraints, couldn't affors a bigger bike until I got a great deal on a px for the bike I have now.

Ebony/Black and Red 06 Plate - Kawasaki ER-6F 650 (Parallel Twin).

Some of you long term bikers would say, crap machine, but for my first proper bike (by that I mean bigger than 125), I am very happy. Does about 137mph, redline at 11k.
Short/compact/consealed exhaust with a nice growl to it.

I'm quite short, so this bike is just right for me.

Downside, can't adjust the headlight position when riding with a pillion (dazzle oncoming traffic).

But I'm happy.

Hello to you and a very warm welcome to J4R. I think the Kawasaki ER6 is a good bike and an excellent choice for your first bigger bike. I am sure someone on here can suggest a fix for your headlight issue.

I look forward to meeting you at one of our ride outs or pub meets. By the way what your first name? It would be nice to say hi Mike or Paul or John etc rather than jperryquedgley.

Best wishes to you.

Les.

Glad to see you on J4R... make yourself at home!

Pleased to hear that you are happy with the ER.. sounds like fun! No idea what the answer to your headlamp problem is although a 3lb lump hammer may help. ;) ;) ;)

Looking forward to seeing you on a ride out very soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Gutted to have missed this weekends ride out. Would have been a blast. Plenty of stories to be told I guess.
Not available this Wednesday either :( , unfortunately (at least not yet  ). I'll try and re-arrange a night or two to accommodate.
My exhaust needs a little TLC before I take a long ride out.
In the meantime, safe riding, my new friends. I hope to meet you all soon.

God bless you and yours...
JP
