Have seen a Yamaha Dragstar 650cc I'm quite interested in, only thing is I'll need to get it restricted which in this case is quite costly. If anyone has got any inside info or knows of how to get this kit cheaply (nothing on Ebay atm) please could you let me know. Fanks

The Dragstar only makes 40hp at the crank, and it will be lucky to break the 33hp limit Id think at the wheel, get a dyno done at glos superbikes, if it hits 33hp or under then keep the dyno print out for proof in the very unlikely case that uncle fascist plod gives yer ear a tug, then wave the dyno under his porky nostrils and tell him to pork off....um no dont do that hehe.

You might struggle with a print out from a dyno centre, most insurance companys want a certificate of restriction to prove it has been done by an approved centre so even if you find a kit cheep you may still need to pay to have it fitted by the right people.

Unfortunately Glos Superbikes are not open at present and as far as im aware im not sure for how long they will be closed.

Thanks guys, someone else has already said the same, but the law is the law and I don't want to start off of the wrong foot, if you know what I mean! So far prices for this kit are coming up at £72 + fitting FFS! and as you said it is only 40bhp anyway. That on top of the price of the bike, plus the prospect of having to keep two for a time until I can sell mine is not good news . . .

if I may humbly assist :oldman: Why not go for a Kwack VN 800, it offers a bit more grunt and from experience you WILL get bored of 33hp when you can take the restrictor off, both bikes are highly rated but I just think (humbly) the 800 is the better bike......http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/biker ... 996--2004/

The difference between 40 and 54 horsepoos will be quite noticeable and gives you just enough to keep out of those bullys in mo mo's way, after your period of castration anyway.....nice to have a choice huh?

Way to sensible..hehe..tell ya what if you can find a cruiser thats restricted, then I will attempt to... um ..no cant say that.........at the end of the day its only 20 or so beer tokens.....find plenty of er6 and the like, but cruisers arent fashionable in restricted form cos many peoples 1st big bikes are the a fore mentioned er6/repulsion..sorry diversion 6's....and the lubberly cbr600f......I say bug her the cost and get what ya want, cos you will anyway after you get what ya dont.....tired now pass the ovaltine and slip a bourbon in it.... :D

Luverly bike. A lot to consider, cost of bike, cost of restricter + fitting, cost of insurance, price I can get for mine etc, etc, etc. I so need to win a few thousand £££££!

I would/will if I can find one I like. Ironically there is a Dragstar for sale which works out cheaper including having the kit fitted, but it's older and has twice the mileage than the one I really like. Don't like the colour (all important lol!) and has those straight handle bars which I really do not like, but apart from that!!!!

Wannabe, Just hold on in there, something will come along.
Like you say the winter nights are here now, so just get used to riding what you've got.
I'm sure the good lot on here that we are...we can all keep an eye open and an ear out for you.
I can ask the lady at the Harley shop how she went about getting hers restricted and costs etc.
I appreciate (without being patronising) the Harley may not be what you're looking at, just yet, but just as a guide as to what she had to do etc.

Lady? at the Harley shop?, Its commonly known "Ladies" dont know anything about bikes, and 2, ladies in a harley shop selling harleys has got to be the funniest thing I have ever heard for quite some time, what I wonder would be the sales pitch? hmmmmmm "it goes thrack thrack thrack missy" and " it has 2 wheels and the benefit of this is that it has a third of the wheels of a motorcar...........I also hope you realise that you are having you leg, arms and eyeballs pulled very hard hahahahahaha...... :VF: :VF: :VF: :VF:

Hey Shaun,
careful when you're making fun of my baby :wkd: :wkd: :wkd: She's my 1st bike and my Pride and Joy ;) ;)
Things have a nasty way of sneaking up on you when you're not expecting it...and I don't mean my Harley :VF: :VF: :VF: :VF:
as for the 'LADY' in the Harley shop, Dee passed her test and had her Harley restricted.
We LADIES may just stick together when needed so watch out :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana: :nana:

I like the attention of ladies, especially when more than 1.. :o :sus: ..I was kidding honestly and I do like the 883's because it doesnt pretend to be anything other than what it is, its priced well etc, its a shame harley cant make things like the night train which I did love the looks of for 5 grand less than what they sold it, or didnt sell it for.....just a joke muwah muwah.. :D

Heres a pic of the 2004 Delectable NT.
