Hi everyone. Just a quick update. Things are moving well with The Ride of Respect 2011. We have another Police meeting tomorrow with Wiltshire Police and hopefully with the ideas we have now things should go ok and we can give a date for registrations. We now have two major biking organisations on board that are willing to run National Regional Rides for those people that are unable to ride through WB. Julia Stevenson is on bikerfm.com every Monday evening from 6.45 to 7.15pm when she will be giving out updates and information.
Julia has put together a merchandise package for anyone that wants one. Details of this are:
The merchandise contained in the pack is non-profit-making. So to make you aware, all of your contribution will go towards the manufacturing of the merchandise which is specific to the ride. The reason behind this is that it is our way of giving something back to The Bikers who have been so generous in the past. We are not a business, so as your contributions come in they are banked under a Ride of Respect account and as funds build up, we will buy the merchandise.

The Souvenir pack will contain:
T-shirt, Cap, Patch, Pin Badge, Flag and Souvenir Magazine.

We hope to have the majority of packs out before February 2011. The packs are available to anyone supporting the ride, not just The Bikers, and will be shipped anywhere in the UK.
The pack will cost £17.00, which includes the £2.00 for postage.
To get the pack, please do the following:

* Purchase a C4 sized Bubble/Jiffy Bag
* Put your name, address and postcode on the front
* Put your T-shirt size in the bottom left hand corner S/M/L/XL/XXL or XXX/L
* Fold it in half, put in inside another envelope and put a cheque or postal order made out to Ride of Respect to the value of £17.00 and send it to: Julia Stevenson, 11 Coopers Close, Darenth, DA4 9AH. This is Julia's home address as we know some people prefer not to use PO Boxes.
As stated the merchandise is ride specific, so anyone wishing to purchase Afghan Heroes Merchandise should go directly to the Afghan Heroes Shop. Ride of Respect is not licensed to accept donations so any donations should be made there.

Breaking news via Julia Stevenson - Registration will be open on the 31st OCTOBER on the Afghan Hero site. Please keep an eye on the Facebook Ride of Respect and Afghan Heroes webpages any changes to this. In the meantime, can you continue to put your name on discussion board for the area you would like to ride in. Thank you all for your patience and support.
All updates are being broadcast on Bikerfm.com the internet radio station every Monday evening 18.45 - 19.15

NP Les. Did tell you all that I would let you know when registrations open. Numbers will be limited for the Wotton Bassett run this year, so it will be a first come, first served basis, If you are not lucky enough to join the WB run you can join one of the regional rides. So be quick and register. Merchandise packages are now almost ready to sent out so if any of our members want them go to the Ride of Respect 2011 Facebook page and look at the discussions tab where it tells you how to order them. They are really good value for money and there are pics on there so you can see what exactly you are getting for your hard earnt!

It was announced tonight live on bikerfm by Julia Stevenson that registration open for the Ride of Respect 2011 have been bought forward to 5.00pm Wednesday 27 October. Group bookings are available. Registration £5 per person and will take place on the Afghan Heroes website. Places at Wootton Bassett are limited so book early if you want to ride through WB. The Ride of Respect Facebook webpage will be the only website to find out up to date information. Please feel free to contact me if you want any further information

Ride of Respect Wootton Bassett 2011 registrations postponed.Please note we have just been informed by Julia Stevenson and the organisers that we are unable to open the registrations. We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause but it is due to (very) last minute problems beyond our control."

So if like me you were online at 5pm ready to register, you know why you can't find the registration page.

Latest news: people we are making headway...we have a meeting on monday that will determine the final allocated figure for the official ride and details of any overflow for bikers who come but are not registered. We will also have the lowdown on costs ie. if there are any now. on monday night we will tell all on biker fm and on the... website, including we hope the date of the opening of registration...bare with us we are getting there slowly!

Just heard on Biker FM that Julia and the organisers (inc our very own Blondemoment) have got the OK for 10,000 vehicles to take part in next years ride. The number is per bike or trike etc, so the number taking place could be 20,000+ That is great news.

Registration details will be announced on the "Ride of respect 2011" page on Facebook and on the Afghan Heroes website tomorrow.

It has been a very long hard road working with the Police on this one, but we finally got there today!!!!!! We MUST ensure that we adhere to the restrictions but they have been more than helpful today at the meeting

We need to agree a time slot for J4R riders so when we book we will all be together. Don't forget to book asap, because the places will go very quickly.

We are also looking for marshalls - 100 SIA and 100 non SIA if you know anyone
